Picture of Toccoa Falls

Toccoa Falls

A beautiful 186-foot- high waterfall located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. This commonly said to be one of the tallest single-drop-free-falling waterfalls east of the Mississippi. Toccoa Falls College encompasses the whole of Toccoa Falls, which is located only a couple miles outside of downtown Toccoa. From their gift shop, it is just a 100 yard walk along the stream to the base of the falls. At 186 feet, Toccoa Falls is 26 feet taller than Niagara Falls.

Currahee Mountain

Historic Currahee Moutain

Currahee, "Ol' Currahee" as we know it, is famous worldwide and has stood for centuries as a beacon to the families that lived within its shadow. The phrase, "I wish I could see Ol' Currahee", has been repeated many times, I am sure, by those that have traveled to distant places in the world. I do know that I have uttered the phrase. Always on our return, it would be standing in the distance to beckon us home. It has been accepted over the years that Currahee means "Stands Alone" or "Alone on the Plain" and was named by the Indian tribes that lived around it.
