To B&B or Not To B&B

Portrait of Daniel White with text "I don't always stay in a hotel but when I do, I wish I had chosen a B&B instead"

Being the owner and innkeeper of the Simmons-Bond Inn Bed & Breakfast, that’s a simple question for me to answer. But many folks will ask, “What’s the difference between a hotel and a Bed & Breakfast?”

Well, first and foremost, it’s the overall experience that makes the difference. Well-known chain hotels cater to all travelers and provide a cookie-cutter platform that is very much the same from location to location. The guest rooms, the bathrooms, the common areas are all alike and are expected, regardless of the location. You may feel that you are staying in a box with nothing to make your stay unique. And that’s usually where a chain branded hotel ends. And for the discerning traveler, that’s where the Bed & Breakfast experience takes off.

The first thing you’ll notice is the unique ambience: No two B&Bs are the same. Whether you’re looking for a mountain retreat, an historic home, a seaside cottage, or the experience of a working ranch, searching out a Bed & Breakfast where you are traveling will guarantee a lodging treat that you’ll not soon forget.

From the beautiful décor and ambience as you enter the Inn to the unique and diverse appointments in the guest rooms, to the fantastic culinary breakfast meal, your experience will be unmatched by any regular hotel. At the Simmons-Bond Inn, you’re made to feel like family throughout your stay. Our historic home in downtown Toccoa is filled with the rich accoutrements of a bygone Victorian era. Elegant quarter-sawn woodwork downstairs, heart pine flooring throughout, period furnishings and pictures give a beautiful ambience to your visit. And Oh, the breakfast! My wife Tanya prepares a delectable three-course breakfast each morning that is sure to please even the most discerning palate. And we are happy to accommodate special diets for our guests.

So the next time you are looking to get away in the north Georgia mountains area, or specifically in Toccoa, stop by the Simmons-Bond Inn Bed & Breakfast for a stay you will talk about over and over again. Experience the difference and you’ll surely say, “To B&B!”
