Leafing in Toccoa

October 17, 2018

Well, fall is finally here (really, it is), and we should be feeling cooler temperatures, setting the clocks back an hour, and seeing the beautiful fall colors on the trees. And what better place to go fall leaf watching than Toccoa, Georgia. Nestled at the foot of the north Georgia mountains,

Toccoa – and the Simmons-Bond Inn Bed & Breakfast – offers the laid-back atmosphere to enjoy the colorful change of seasons.

Start your leaf watching journey at Toccoa Falls, just a short drive north of the Inn. See the splash of color on the trees while enjoying the splash of the falls, the highest free-falling waterfall east of the Mississippi River.

Currahee Mountain comes alive with fall colors and folks can honor the soldiers from World War II who trained on the mountain so many years ago. Challenge the training route, “three miles up and three miles down” as you feel the crisp, cool air rustling the beautiful hues on the trees. Several paratrooper infantry regiments trained on the mountain and their legacy lives on in the monuments and reconstructed barracks on the mountain at Camp Toccoa at Currahee. Visit the Currahee Military Museum to experience more of our brave soldiers, their training here, and their mission overseas.

All around Toccoa, the colors of fall come alive and welcome folks to our beautiful city. Stroll our downtown shops and restaurants in the cool of the day. Enjoy the small-town charm as life slows down and fall begins. And of course, the Simmons-Bond Inn Bed & Breakfast is ready to welcome you with a relaxing stay that you won’t soon forget. And if your travel plans allow, the 42nd annual Toccoa Harvest Festival takes over Doyle Street on October 27th and 28th. Come and see what a fabulous fall festival is like in the north Georgia mountains. Visit http://www.mainstreettoccoa.com/harvest-festival for more information. See you soon!
